Privacy Policy

1. Summary

HopConvert is a set of free, browser-based file conversion tools. This privacy policy explains what data is collected when you visit hopconvert.com, how it is used, and what choices you have.

Key point: HopConvert has no user accounts and no backend that stores your files. When you paste JSON, CSV, XML, or YAML into one of our converters, that data is processed entirely by JavaScript running inside your own browser. It is never transmitted to our servers — because there are no servers that receive it.

2. Your conversion data

Files and text you load into a converter (for example data.json, export.csv, feed.xml, or config.yaml) are handled like this:

• Read locally. Your browser reads the file directly from your computer using the FileReader API.
• Processed locally. The conversion logic (parsing, flattening, escaping, serialising) runs as JavaScript inside the browser tab.
• Rendered locally. The preview table and converted output are generated and displayed without any network request.
• Downloaded locally. The Download button creates a file in memory using the browser's Blob API and saves it to your device. Nothing is transmitted.

We do not receive, log, store, or have any access to the content of the files or text you convert. We could not recover your data even if we wanted to, because it never reaches us.

3. Cookies and local storage

HopConvert itself sets no cookies, no tracking pixels, and no first-party analytics. The converters are stateless — refreshing the page resets everything, and nothing you convert is remembered between visits.

However, our advertising partners and hosting platform may set cookies or use local storage. That is covered in the next section.

4. Advertising and Google AdSense

HopConvert is funded by advertising through Google AdSense. Google and its partners may use cookies, device identifiers, and similar technologies to serve ads based on your prior visits to this or other websites.

• Third-party vendors, including Google, use cookies to serve ads based on prior visits to this and/or other websites.
• Google's use of advertising cookies enables it and its partners to serve ads to you based on your visit to this site and/or other sites on the internet.
• You may opt out of personalised advertising by visiting Google Ads Settings.
• You can opt out of a third-party vendor's use of cookies for personalised advertising at aboutads.info or youronlinechoices.com.

If you live in a region that requires it, Google will show a consent banner before displaying personalised ads. You can change your choices at any time through the links above.

Your conversion data is never shared with advertisers. Because your files are processed locally and never uploaded, no advertiser or ad platform ever sees the contents of the data you convert.

5. Other third parties

The site loads resources from the following providers. When these load, your browser contacts their servers, so they receive your IP address and standard request metadata — never the contents of your files.

• Cloudflare — content delivery network, TLS termination, and optional traffic analytics
• Google AdSense — advertising
• Google Fonts — web fonts
• GitHub Pages — static site hosting
• js-yaml — YAML parsing library, used only on the YAML to JSON converter

HopConvert does not embed social media widgets, chat widgets, fingerprinting scripts, or any analytics other than the Cloudflare beacon noted above.

6. What we never collect

HopConvert does not collect, and is technically incapable of collecting, any of the following, because no backend exists to receive it:

• The name, content, structure, or metadata of any file you convert
• Text or data you paste into any converter's input box
• Files you download from HopConvert
• Conversion history, saved presets, or personal preferences — none are persisted
• Account credentials, because there are no accounts

7. Your rights (GDPR, CCPA, and similar laws)

Because HopConvert operates without user accounts and does not collect personal data about its visitors, most data-subject requests — access, rectification, erasure, portability, objection — do not apply to us directly. There is no stored data to retrieve or delete.

For data held by our third-party processors, direct your request to the relevant processor:

• California residents: California Personal Information laws recognise the same opt-out rights described in section 4. We do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined under the CCPA.

8. Children's privacy

HopConvert is not directed at children under 13, or the equivalent minimum age in your jurisdiction, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from children. Because we collect no personal data from anyone, no children's data is collected either.

9. Changes to this policy

When this policy changes, the "Last updated" date above is revised and the new version is published at the same URL. Material changes affecting advertising or data handling will be called out here.
